Continuing Education:
- Half-
Day Workshops: Typically, two to three half-day continuing education
events are offered on a yearly basis.
- Yearly Full-Day Conference: A full day conference is typically offered one time per
year.
- SHAWNY members are also invited to
attend events offered by other regional associations at that associations
regional discounted rate.
- SHAWNY also Co-sponsors numerous
workshops per year.
Focus Groups:
- The schools group meets on a regular
basis to share information and ideas related to various aspects of service
provision. Meetings are facilitated by members and guest speakers.
- The medically based group is a network of professionals that meets to
communicate with one another regarding the issues encountered in hospitals and
agencies working under a medical model. Guest speakers are also invited
to meetings as relevant.
- The most recent addition to our focus groups is
the Augmentative and Alternative Communication Group.
Professional Networking
- SHAWNY strives to maintain a network
of professionals with positive working relationships.
Scholarships
- Undergraduate
and Graduate SHAWNY Scholarships: SHAWNY sponsors an undergraduate and a graduate
student scholarship each year which are awarded at the SHAWNY Recognition
Dinner.
- Dena
Goldstein Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded annually to a high
school student in Western New York who has benefited from the services of a
speech-language pathologist or audiologist.
